Round 4 of GRI
Last year 2011, saw a sharp rise in the illegal ivory trade (reported by the wildlife trade monitoring network TRAFFIC). This, coupled with deteriorating governmental support for wildlife authorities in Zambia has resulted in a dramatic increase in the threat of poaching to rare and precious wildlife in the Lower Zambezi area.
Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust was one of the fortunate beneficiaries of the Elephant Charge in 2011. We received K25, 500,000 on 23.1.12 towards the general running costs of our Conservation Education Outreach Programme in 2012.
